Pakie started his finance career in corporate banking. Then moved to National Treasury and later management of development institutions. He founded Mafori Group in June 1998. He holds post-graduate degrees in Economics, Psychology and Education. He also holds a Masters Degree in Development Economics (London). He was awarded the following scholarships; US-SALEP (United States-South Africa leadership Exchange Program], SAEEP (Southern African Education Exchange Program), British Council Scholarship.

“I joined Mafori Finance as an accounting clerk 12 years ago (2007). Two years later I moved into operations after restructuring of business from branch model to centralized sales model. In 2014 I was tasked to create a group structure. I moved it from 2 to 8 self-sustaining independent companies within a period of 5 years. That translates to more than one new company per year”

Tjitjila joined Mafori Finance in May 2007 from his previous employer, viz. SARS (South African Revenue Services).  From 2012 to 2016 his task was to transform the company from branch-network based model into a branchless diversified group structure. It is a challenge he completed successfully.  From 2017 to 2020 his task is to increase operational efficiencies and to accelerate organic growth of underlying companies within the Group. Tjitjila has advanced qualifications in the following areas: Accounting obtained
at Tshwane University of Technology, Project Management obtained at Varsity College, as well as a qualification in Management obtained at Regent Business School.

When I joined Mafori Group in 2014 I was given the task of establishing a company that shall implement the quotation above. Four years later, I am proud to confirm that Mafori Advisory Services (Pty) Ltd. managed to surpass its expectations. It managed to assist 6,200 municipality workers who would have been excluded from the financial system. Of more importance, our product became the key strategic one within Mafori Group. Patience got her post matric qualification in Business Management from Tshwane University of Technology. She has vast experience in areas servicing low-to middle-income market.
These were acquired from being Sales Consultant: Price & Pride & Customer Service Consultant: Jet Stores. Before joining Mafori, Patience worked in Human Resources at BMW.

Portia joined Mafori Group in 2001 as Personal Assistant. 

She later worked in several areas: Branch Manager, Supervisor of Customer Service & Projects Manager. She completed National Diplomas from Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Milpark Business School & Damelin.

Tseleng joined Mafori Group in 1999 as an Accounting Clerk.  She grow to become Senior Finance Manager before taking responsibility for all investments in 2011.

She holds B.Comm (Audit & Accounting) and attended International Boulders Course for Mico-Financiers, Florence, Italy in 2007. The course, entitled “Finance & Risk Management” is an annual one held out of Harvard Business Schools’ Boston Campus in the USA.

Victor joined Mafori Finance in 2000 as sales agent & offered sales originating services to the Mafori under his consulting company; viz. KSM Financial Services. He re-joined Mafori in 2012 when it was transforming itself into a diversified group within financial services sector. He was given task of replacing branches & debit-order collection method with employer-based origination platform that collects through payroll deduction method. He has since created 123 employer agreements covering all provinces of South Africa. The aim is to have the employer base to 200 by June 2020. That will translate into a client base of 230,000 with combined annual salary bill of R2,1billion. Victor has qualifications in the following areas: A Diploma in Marketing & Business Management obtained at Damelin, as well as a Programme in Sales and Marketing.


Head: Risk and MIS

Aubrey joined Mafori Group in 2006 as IT, Risk and MIS (Management Information & Systems) manager.  He started his career within development finance and micro-lending industry in 1996. He holds Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Mathematics & computer Science (UNISA).
